Agility has become an essential attribute in overcoming challenges in a manufacturer's sourcing processes. With products today coming from a growing global network of suppliers, companies must be nimble to quickly meet quotas and fast-changing market demands. Harmonising companies' sourcing, logistics and process management tasks, HL Group drives industry growth by improving process handling functions instead of focusing only on products and components.

"The world is full of products and industry players, but the key point is the whole line," says Markus Hakala, managing director. "We are not just selling products. We are selling a whole process that not only guards the supply chain, but also adds value and makes work more efficient and economical for clients."

Serving mostly traditional industries that require critical components, the Finnish family-owned trading company supplies a wide range of mechanical parts for various applications and areas. Its extensive experience in importing high-quality bearings, seals and power transmission parts since 1942 has bolstered its competence in developing a breakthrough process management model.

Known as Synergia, the tool allows HL Group to offer services that integrate purchasing and sourcing activities, resulting in cost efficiency and business optimisation.

Creating a new mentality within largely conservative industries, HL Group complements its sourcing centres in Helsinki and Shanghai with various online platform pursuits to meet clients' product sourcing and trading needs. It works with global market leaders and strengthens its supplier relations in China to further expand its network and diversify its product portfolio.

With increasing competition between Western and Chinese companies, HL Group helps customers overcome difficulties by applying a process model that is hinged on improving long-term bottom lines.

"We are changing the mindset from product orientation to process concentration," Hakala says. "The key is to have the right quality in the right place. We want to give the best solution to global companies when it comes to process management."
