The Pro Shop at Lakewood Golf Club is the first of a chain that the club hopes to manage at courses throughout China.
Keith Lawson, manager of the club's 600-square-foot Pro Shop, said the long-term plan was to offer management and consultancy services to all the clubs in the country to raise the level of service to international standards.
'What we want to do is help other clubs in their buying of stock, training of the staff and implementing a system of stock control,' Mr Lawson said.
'Most of our members are people who are used to certain standards. The game is new to most people in this part of the world and we want to teach others about what is involved in the game.' Mr Lawson, the former head professional and director of golf at the Macau Golf and Country Club, said the shop carried top golf equipment lines such as Wilson, MacGregor, Titleist, King Cobra, Footjoy, Reebok, Wood Brothers and Ashworth.
As the club grew, it planned to market and promote an exclusive range of products that could be sold at courses throughout China.
'We will have a range of merchandise for both on and off the course to promote the name of the Lakewood Golf Club,' Mr Lawson said.
