Netflix star of Physical 100 Song Ah-reum to visit Hong Kong for bodybuilding training course and seminar
- Song recently won the IFBB Pro Taiwan competition and qualified for the prestigious 2023 Bikini Olympia
- Song and her coach will work with local female athletes to target muscle growth as well as give tips on posing, stage presence and tanning
Fitness fanatics and bodybuilders will get the chance to train alongside professional bodybuilder, fitness model and contestant on Netflix’s Physical 100 Song Ah-reum this month, as she visits Hong Kong for a Bikini prep course and seminar.
In a two-day event hosted by PUMP Personal Training in Sheung Wan, Song Ah-reum and Choi Young-jun, head coach of Wannabez, a leading coaching team in Asia’s bodybuilding industry, will work with athletes interested in Bikini, a subcategory for bodybuilding competitions.
Choi won the No 1 Korean Coach Award for six consecutive years and made more than 30 IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) Bikini pros and five Olympia winners. Ah-reum, who works under the Wannabez team, has been training with Choi for five years.
Since the start of her professional fitness career in 2018, Song has accumulated several accolades; just this year alone, she won the IFBB Pro Taiwan and also qualified for the 2023 Olympia, taking place in November in the United States.
“We thought it would be great if she could come along … to meet her fans and promote female fitness training and the sport of Bikini bodybuilding in Hong Kong,” PUMP Personal Training founder and fellow IFBB pro athlete Amanda Lam said.
“She has a huge fan base in Hong Kong especially after her appearance [on the] Netflix series Physical 100.”
Song’s bodybuilding career was further elevated with the 2023 Korean Netflix show Physical 100, an elimination-based competition inviting 100 of the country’s best athletes to take part in extreme trials to “push oneself to the limit,” in the words of the show’s art director Yoo Jae-heon.
Ah-reum and husband Kim Kang-min faced Olympic gold medallists, a UDT specialist, national team athletes, and world champions. The couple reached the top 20 before both faced elimination in episode eight.
The Wannabez training course will aim to target muscle growth for shoulders, back, glutes and core to create the sought-after “X-frame” look achieved by Bikini competitors. Bikini competitions are judged on criteria including proportion, symmetry, muscle tone and stage presence.
The course begins on August 12 at PUMP Personal Training, followed by another day of training and an hour-long seminar on August 13, where Song will discuss the criteria of Bikini posing, confidence on stage, as well as tanning and make-up tips. Registration for both the course and seminar have closed.
