ONE Championship: Jaroonsak and Cardoso to clash in mixed-rules bout at ONE Fight Night 19
- Nat ‘Wondergirl’ Jaroonsak and Dayane ‘Day Monster’ Cardoso to fight two rounds of Muay Thai and two of MMA in non-official contest
- The pair added to card headlined by bantamweight Muay Thai title fight between defending champion Jonathan Haggerty and Felipe Lobo
Nat ‘Wondergirl’ Jaroonsak will add another string to her bow at ONE Fight Night 19 this month, when she takes on Dayane Cardoso in a mixed-rules bout.
Since signing for ONE Championship, the Thai strawweight has already competed in Muay Thai, MMA and modified-rules boxing, and now she will combine the first of those two in a four-round encounter in Bangkok on February 17.
Cardoso (9-2-1) clearly has more experience in MMA, in comparison to her 24-year-old opponent’s 1-1 record in the sport, and while the 27-year-old Brazilian, whose nickname is Day Monster, has a handful of Muay Thai fights, she has not competed in that sport nearly as many times as her opponent.
The non-official fight of three minute rounds has been added to a card already boasting a bantamweight Muay Thai title fight between defending champion Jonathan Haggerty and Felipe Lobo.
Also added to the event is a strawweight Muay Thai bout pitting Thongpoon PKSaenchaigym against Timur Chuikov. The former was stopped by Ellis Badr Barboza at ONE Fight Night 17, but the result was overturned after the Englishman failed a drug test.
Chuikov, in contrast, is a promotional newcomer and hails from Kyrgyzstan but is training at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket.
The two other fights currently on the card will also be contested under Muay Thai rules.
Saemapetch Fairtex will take Mohamed Younes Rabah in a bantamweight rematch, while two Americans face off in the featherweight division, with Luke Lessei and Eddie Abasolo with both men looking to bounce back from recent decision losses.
