Colin "Monty" Montgomerie, eight-time European Tour Order of Merit money list winner and Ryder Cup legend, is in Hong Kong this week gearing up for this year’s UBS Hong Kong Open (November 15-18) in Fanling.

SCMP caught up with him for a chat on Monday at Clearwater Bay Golf Club, where he hosted a class for local golfers, sharing tips on how to adapt your swing to different weather conditions. Despite a forecast of cloudy skies in the city this weekend, the Scottish pro-golfer looks forward to a "fun" and "competitive" round.

"I’ve always felt comfortable here in Hong Kong," he said.  "I won here in 2005. I like the people, hospitality, everything about Hong Kong. The city’s alive and I love it over here.

"So when you are feeling that comfortable, you tend to play better and I’m looking forward to doing the same this week."

In the video above, Monty talks with reporter James Porteous about his masterclass and the many times he has played in Hong Kong.

For a full interview with him, check out our video in this Sunday’s edition of scmp.com.
