Hong Kong magistrate suffers head injuries after Disneyland cycling crash leaves her trapped underneath bus

A Hong Kong magistrate has suffered head injuries after a cycling crash at Disneyland on Lantau Island left her trapped underneath a tour bus.

Police said the woman, 38, was cycling on Magic Road opposite the Disney Explorers Lodge inside the resort at around midday on Saturday when she lost balance and fell, colliding with a tour bus.

A source familiar with the incident told the Post the patient was barrister Shirley Cornelia Hung, who was also a keen trail runner and triathlete.

Firefighters rescued her from underneath the bus and she was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung to treat her head injuries.

The 50 passengers on the bus were unharmed.

The city logged 2,224 road traffic accidents involving bicycles in 2022, with 2,089 cyclists injured. In 2019, 1,738 such accidents took place, causing 1,625 injuries.
