A Singaporean tourist has died in a Hong Kong hospital after he was found unconscious in a jacuzzi in a hotel.
Police said the 63-year-old Singaporean passport holder was found unconscious in the pool at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Mong Kok at 9.20am on Thursday. The water in the jacuzzi was about one metre (3.3 feet) deep.
A lifeguard pulled him from the water and applied first aid before alerting authorities. The tourist was then taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei, where he was declared dead at 10.34am, a police source said.
The Post learned the man, surnamed Leong, had been sightseeing in the city with his wife and planned to stay until the middle of this month.
He went to the pool on the eighth floor at about 8.37am. But at 9.06am, he was no longer in sight of the CCTV.
His wife told investigators he suffered from epilepsy, heart disease and hypertension.
