3 men badly burned in garage blaze in northwestern Hong Kong

Three men have suffered severe burns in a garage fire at a rural village in northwestern Hong Kong.

The blaze took place on Monday in a village called San Sang Tsuen on Tin Ha Road in Yuen Long at about 8.44am.

Emergency personnel discovered three men in the vicinity with serious burns and dense smoke billowing from the garage on arrival at the scene, a police spokesman said.

“One of the men suffered extensive burns all over his body, while the other two victims sustained burns to 30 to 50 per cent of their bodies,” a source familiar with the case said.

The insider said police were still trying to identify the three men.

All the injured were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.

According to police, eight villagers were evacuated from nearby houses.

Firefighters doused the flames at about 10.23am.

Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.
