Controversial books on mainland China still being published in Hong Kong
They cover various topics from the end of the Communist Party to blackmailing President Xi Jinping and his wife
The alleged attempt to curb the publication of books critical of the Chinese Communist Party appears to have had the opposite effect: more titles have been published.
At least three books have hit the shelves of late, offering detailed accounts of the mysterious disappearance of the five booksellers, an act many believe was aimed at curbing books banned in mainland China.

All three books, priced between HK$125 and HK$145, carry eye-catching titles and cover designs that are far more sensational than those published by Mighty Current, the firm run by the five vanished booksellers.
One cover carries the picture of the president and first lady under the title Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan Get Shot. The book – supplemented with pictures of missing booksellers Gui Minhai and Lee Po – is actually about blackmailing Xi and Peng.
The other two titles – Powerful Agencies Have Lost Control and On the Eve of Collapse: The Roadmap to the End of the Party – are equally catchy.
