The fiancée of former TVB actor and singer Lee Lung-kei has been hit with an extra charge related to her overstay in Hong Kong, bringing the total count against her to seven.

The Sha Tin Court heard on Tuesday that Wang Qingxia, 36, would face an additional charge of seeking employment during the period.

Acting Principal Magistrate Amy Chan Wai-mun adjourned the case until May 28 after counsel representing Wang cited the need for more time to prepare necessary documents.

Wang already faces two counts of breaching her conditions of stay, one count each of possessing and using a false instrument, one count of making false statements to obtain her entry permit and one count of making a false declaration to officers.

Wang was detained by the Immigration Department in February and was denied bail.

Lee, 73, arrived at court on Tuesday morning in a purple shirt and said he slept for only two hours before Wang’s hearing.

“I wore brightly coloured clothes hoping she would spot me in the audience. She needs support. I am her biggest supporter,” he told the press.

He added that he would visit Wang every day while she was in detention and avoid taking on jobs that required him to be away from Hong Kong for long periods.

Lee left the courtroom with tears in his eyes and said he was doing fine, but admitted to getting emotional.

Wang, who was active on the social media platform Instagram before her arrest, posted frequently about her affluent lifestyle, artwork and relationship with Lee.

She holds a Chinese permit for travel to and from Hong Kong, according to court documents.

The two began dating in 2019 and their relationship came to light the following year, when local media reported that Wang, who was carrying Lee’s child, had suffered a miscarriage.

Lee, a former TVB actor and singer, is best known for his role as the Jade Emperor in the series Journey To The West and its sequel Journey To The West 2.

The pair, often in the media spotlight due to their age difference, were initially planning to tie the knot late last year but postponed their wedding.

They made their latest public appearance together during TVB’s New Year’s Eve countdown programme on February 9.
