The driver of a white car was said to have earlier been parked illegally on a lane off Castle Peak Road in Sham Shui Po, near the Garden Company bakery, at about 7.20pm.

When officers approached the man, identified as male and aged in his twenties, he sped off, struck a car and his vehicle mounted the pavement and hit the woman, throwing her on to the road, but he failed to stop.

He later hit another car on the same road and collided with a third one at the junction of Un Chau Street and Yen Chow Street. The 54-year-old driver of the other car escaped with minor injuries.

The injured driver was also treated at Princess Margaret Hospital for dizziness and minor injuries.

Officers from the Sham Shui Po district crime squad are leading the inquiry.
