Chinese mother gave earplugs to fellow first-class passengers ‘in case my daughter disturbs you’
Stewardess shares pictures of woman’s note to fellow travellers online, but adds that toddler’s good behaviour meant precaution proved unnecessary
While Chinese parents are frequently criticised for indulging their children’s misbehaviour in public, one mother who boarded a plane with her toddler daughter is reported to have handed out ear plugs to other passengers to ensure they would not be disturbed if the girl started to cry.
The woman, who was travelling on a China Eastern flight from Ningbo in Zhejiang province to Xian in Shaanxi province on Tuesday, gave each of the passengers in the first-class cabin a gift bag.
The package contained a pair of ear plugs, confectionery and a note expressing her hope that her child, whom she nicknamed Wendy, would not annoy the other passengers, a stewardess on the flight told Ningbo Evening News.
The stewardess was touched to receive a similar gift bag and decided to share a picture on WeChat, China’s most popular social media app, after the plane landed.
“It’s not my first long-distance trip but my mum takes care of me alone and worries that I may cry and disturb you. After all, the change of air pressure in the plane will make me fret,” the note read.
