Chinese boy survives after jump using umbrella as ‘parachute’

A boy from eastern China survived after he copied a cartoon he had just seen by jumping from the 10th storey of a building trying to use an umbrella as a parachute, according to a television report.
The boy from Suzhou in Jiangusu province has undergone extensive surgery and his injuries are no longer life-threatening, Suzhou TV reported. It was not clear if he has suffered permanent injuries.
A doctor who spoke to the boy’s relatives said the child had been watching a cartoon at home showing the imaginary use of an umbrella as a parachute.
He jumped from the building, but luckily his fall was partially broken by a power line, witnesses were quoted as saying.
