Help on way for investors

THREE Chinese Government authorities and a group of Hong Kong professionals have established a consultancy agency to offer business liaison and an exchange of economic and trade information for foreign investors.

The Chinese partners are entities under the Ministry of Justice, State Administration of Industry and Commerce and Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The Hong Kong professionals include lawyers, accountants and surveyors.

Leo Lok, vice-chairman of the newly established China International Information Management Group, said the consultancy group had opened offices in Hong Kong and Beijing and planned to have offices in Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

'If there is a need, we will expand the office network,' Mr Lok said.

China International Information Management Group will provide services in areas including registration of corporations and licensing, cross-border taxation and registration of protection of intellectual property rights.

Other areas to be covered include promotion and co-ordination of corporate investments, legal consultancy, civil litigation and international business arbitration, criminal litigation, development and sales of property, and financing.

The group has exclusive agency appointments to represent government authorities on legal and related matters in China and overseas.

It has founded the China Foreign Investment Enterprises Consultative Association which will help members to strengthen liaison with Chinese authorities and provide professional and technical support to members.
