Rare cat rescued; Man threatens to jump from building - 25 times

An endangered Chinese mountain cat ( Felis bieti) has been identified as the mystery poultry thief in Huangci village, Yongjing county, the Lanzhou Evening News reports.

An endangered Chinese mountain cat ( has been identified as the mystery poultry thief in Huangci village, Yongjing county, the reports. After villagers complained that their poultry were being bothered by "a strange cat", a wildlife expert identified the feline from the village's security footage. The animal was captured and found to be malnourished. The local zoo is caring for the cat until it is well enough to be released into a more remote habitat.

Officials in Lanzhou say that about 60 road signs are destroyed every month, costing the city up to 700,000 yuan (HK$885,000) a year in repairs and replacements, the reports. Nearly all of the damage was deliberate, the local transport department said. Vandals inflict damage in various ways, from kicking to posting advertisements, phone numbers and graffiti.
