The man was wanted for allegedly robbing a woman at knifepoint of 400 yuan (HK$505) and taking her mobile phone in late June. He was caught in routine station security checks.
Police have stepped up a crackdown on illegal tour guides around Tiananmen Square, the reports. Three unlicensed tour agents were caught and detained by last Friday. Seventy-two others were fined. Some 490 tickets for the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace, were seized from scalpers. Plainclothes police officers are carrying out the checks during the National Day holiday.
