When October 31 rolls around, the stars don’t just celebrate – they transform.

From whimsical family costumes to jaw-dropping solo get-ups and epic parties, Hollywood’s wealthiest love to pull out all the stops and spare no expense to have a little fun on All Hallow’s Eve.

And we love to see it! After all, if you’ve got it – haunt it. Here are some of the celebrities who famously go all out for Halloween every year:

All hail the Halloween queen: Heidi Klum

Could the title of the undisputed Queen of Halloween belong to anyone other than supermodel Heidi Klum? Over the past 23 years, the host of Project Runway has orchestrated the quintessential Halloween bash in Los Angeles, always making a grand entrance in a costume that lives up to the event’s legendary status.

Klum’s commitment to her character is nothing short of astounding. Her costumes often feature custom-made wardrobe pieces, elaborate hair and make-up, imaginative props, and even facial prosthetics. Some of her wildest looks over the years have included: the blue-skinned Hindu goddess Kali; a cadaver, complete with a gurney and blood-spattered doctors; a cane-wielding elderly woman; Princess Fiona from Shrek; and even herself – arriving to her party with an entourage of Klum clones.

Last year, she surpassed all her previous efforts by dressing up as a – somehow very convincing – worm, making it abundantly clear that no one does Halloween quite like Heidi.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are #familyhalloweengoals

Actor Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka have perfected the art of coordinated family Halloween costumes. As parents to twins Harper and Gideon, the duo have been dressing up as a foursome since 2011, when they started the tradition of four-person thematic ensembles by dressing as Peter Pan characters. Since then, the family has become even more creative.

Their inventive attire often touches on iconic pop culture references, from The Wizard of Oz and freak show performers to illustrious artists like Andy Warhol and Van Gogh, and even playful nods to fast-food mascots, including Colonel Sanders and Ronald McDonald.

Ghouls just wanna have fun: the Kardashian-Jenners

When it comes to Halloween, the Kardashian-Jenners don’t mess around. The famously glam family love dressing up in wildly creative and elaborate costumes, with each member – Kim, Kylie, Kendall, Khloe and Kourtney – channelling their own unique sense of style and personality.

Kim revels in crafting delightful couple costumes alongside her close friend Jonathan Cheban. Together, they’ve embodied iconic duos such as Sonny and Cher, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, as well as Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic from the Netflix series, Tiger King.

Meanwhile, Kylie has channelled characters including the Bride of Frankenstein and Elvira, whereas Kendall gravitates toward figures from classic films, such as Andy from Toy Story and a Fembot from Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

In one particularly iconic Halloween costume outing from 2018, all of the KJ sisters dressed up as Victoria’s Secret Angels. This took place long before the current feud between Kim and Kourtney – so don’t expect any more family costumes any time soon!

Vanessa Hudgens creepin’ it real all month long

Why limit yourself to just one costume during the spooky season? Vanessa Hudgens loves Halloween so much, the High School Musical star has become known for wearing multiple different costumes throughout the month of October, unveiling them one by one online to her 51.1 million Instagram followers. Some of her most iconic looks include a lusty yet murderous Black Widow, Catwoman, and Natalie Portman’s iconic deranged ballerina character from the film Black Swan.

Summoning the spirits with Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber

The Crawford-Gerber family loves a good Halloween celebration, and given Gerber’s role as co-founder of Casamigos tequila alongside his good friend George Clooney, hosting an extravagant party to mark the occasion almost becomes a professional obligation.
Embracing creative couple’s costumes with his wife – one of the world’s most renowned supermodels – Gerber has often embraced nostalgic attire from various eras, including a 1960s pilot and flight attendant, a 1970s-style rocker, and last year’s costumes inspired by the series Yellowstone.
Halloween
  • Hollywood’s most successful stars have something of an advantage when it comes to epic Halloween outfits – money and help from costume designers – but some celebs go to greater lengths than others
  • Kim Kardashian loves coordinating outfits with pal Jonathan Cheban, Neil Patrick Harris ropes in his whole family, and Vanessa Hudgens loves the holiday so much she prepares multiple looks
