The 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival, which started on May 14, will be ending on Saturday.

Nominees for the Palme d’Or, the most prestigious award given at the festival, include a Chinese drama, The Wild Goose Lake, directed by Diao Yinan and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino’s latest dark comedy, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

In celebration of the festival, Swiss watchmaker-jeweller Chopard has been organising numerous activities throughout the event – most notably the annual Chopard soirée, long-considered one of the festival’s most anticipated parties.

Chopard’s Magical Setting collection of jewellery shines

The luxury brand has been a partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998.

Caroline Scheufele, the company’s co-president and artistic director, who is an ardent film-lover, redesigned the Palme d’Or trophy in 1997.

The maison has provided the Palme d’Or and other trophies for the closing ceremony at Cannes ever since.

Scheufele hosted guests at Le Cannet for this year’s Chopard Love Night dinner, offering performances by opera singers and husband-and-wife duo Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov, a sultry stage act by Dita von Teese and an exclusive concert by global superstar Mariah Carey.

Later in the evening, DJ Cassidy jumped on the decks for guests to dance the rest of the night away.

Guests included the celebrities Julianne Moore, Elle Fanning, Richard Madden, Liu Tao, Amber Heard, Priyanka Chopra and her husband, Nick Jonas, Adrien Brody and Chopard brand ambassador Araya Hargate.

With love as the central theme of the event, Chopard designed decorations that were inspired by romantic film sets.

The ballroom was staged in an aesthetic reminiscent of The Phantom of the Opera musical.

Perrier-Jouët Champagne made the rounds, as well as a pink “LOVE cocktail” which was specially developed using Pernod-Ricard alcohol.

Chopard goes for ethical gold

Chopard’s commitment to ethical fashion was seen with an econyl-yarn red carpet, made entirely of recycled plastic.

The event also included a runway show of Haute Joaillerie creations from the Red Carpet collection, which concluded with supermodel Eva Herzigova and models Maria Borges and Sui He in a final runway walk.

The runway models wore Elie Saab dresses and Brioni suits, in addition to Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie collection.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Maison unveiled a new variation in the Happy Sport watch collection during the event, aptly named the Happy Love timepiece.
