STYLE Edit: Inside Gucci’s grand Hong Kong flagship refurb – the city’s stars from Louis Koo and Charlene Choi to Tyson Yoshi were out in force for the store relaunch, featuring exclusive new pieces
The revamped store offers an extensive showcase of Gucci design, spread across more than 12,000 sq ft over three floors. That’s enough space for a comprehensive selection of the Italian fashion house’s ready-to-wear for both men and women, as well as its handbags, shoes, watches, jewellery and luggage. Gucci Décor and Lifestyle items, as well as fragrances, round out the brand’s complete catalogue of offerings.
The restored facade of the boutique is all in marble, the gleaming white reflective surfaces shining out like a beacon onto the slick pavement of Canton Road. Stepping inside, visitors are struck by the light and dark geometric floor patterns and by the warmth and sophistication of the interior decor, which project the feel of coming home to a stylishly grand living room.
Why is Gucci parting ways with creative director Alessandro Michele?
Walking through the store, it’s hard to take your eyes off the intricate floor patterns that change from room to room, rendered in a marble that echoes the facade of the store, as well as hand-painted wood in a gradation of rich tones. Soft, tactile rugs with a vintage feel bring a contrasting sense of cosiness to the otherwise grand spaces.
Gucci’s own velvet armchairs and sofas, detailed with a scallop motif, are strategically placed throughout the store to create opportunities for respite and comfort. The use of bold patterns, and the layering of soft versus hard materials, with design elements from different eras, reflects the spirit of the house, bringing a dramatic yet intimate charm.
The flagship store is now showcasing an exclusive selection from the spring/summer 2023 collection including limited-edition handbags, jewellery items and pieces from the Décor selection.
The jewellery includes new designs from the Hortus Deliciarum – “Garden of Delights” in Latin – high jewellery collection which draws inspiration from travels in distant, exotic and even imagined worlds. It includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and multi-finger rings, divided into different themes.
The Canton Road flagship is also the first store in Greater China to host a dedicated VIP men’s area for a tailored shopping experience.

To celebrate the reopening of the revamped store, Gucci hosted a private cocktail party attended by Hong Kong’s fashion elite and celebrities from showbiz and sport.
Many of the guests were entranced by the interactive virtual reality room specially set up for the party that immersed them in the dreamlike world of multidisciplinary Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal.
