5 best shows at London Fashion Week SS24, from Burberry’s interlink chain prints and Simone Rocha x Crocs, to Erdem’s royal inspiration, Roksanda’s silhouettes and Molly Goddard’s feminine looks

On September 15, after New York, the fashion world descended on London for a catwalk extravaganza, showcasing big names such as Burberry, Erdem, Roksanda and more.

Ahead of the official start, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour hosted Vogue World, a star-studded event billed as Britain’s answer to New York’s Met Gala.

This year, more than 80 designers presented their spring/summer 2024 collections, with around 50 catwalk shows and other events.

There were plenty of options on the catwalks as designers showed off their collections for spring/summer 2024, ranging from streetwear to beautiful evening outfits.

Here are Style’s picks of collections you wouldn’t want to miss.

1. Burberry

Daniel Lee, Burberry’s 37-year-old creative director, introduced interlink chain prints and a new vibrant “Knight Blue” colour in his spring/summer 2024 collection for the brand.

Silhouettes were elongated and accessorised with padded bags in khaki as well as leather structured bags in red, white and green.

Models strutted the runway in blue-soled high heel sandals alongside iterations of Burberry’s trench coat in camel and black with pops of its reimagined classic check print on the collar.

For evening wear, Lee opted for sleek flowy deconstructed floral knit dresses with sheer elements, while chain press tools secured lightweight dresses and outfits into place.

In contrast, the menswear collection featured sharp tailoring and shorts, complemented by patent leather shoes in black, green and brown with prominent silver buckles and belts.

2. Erdem

For his spring/summer 2024 collection, Erdem Moralioglu delved into the archives of Chatsworth Palace, the home of the duke and duchess of Devonshire in the north of England.

Organza and satin skirts and dresses were long, shoulders bare, like those of a fairy tale princess.

However, some of the looks were much more modern, with biker jackets, one of them petrol blue, paired with a long pink transparent skirt.

3. Roksanda

Tall headdresses worn by models at the Roksanda show resembled those worn by Orthodox priests.

The straight, almost austere lines of some pieces were countered by a vibrant pop of colour or heels with tassels.

The silhouettes were sometimes straight and narrow, sometimes fluid and moving, sometimes imposing and rigid.

4. Molly Goddard

Influenced by decades of British fashion with a strong interest in underwear, bedding and the inside construction of garments, Goddard’s runway was proudly feminine with airy tulles, vintage flower designs and exposed underclothes.

The designer exposed components often concealed on the inside of clothes, such as hook-and-eye fastenings, grosgrain zip plackets and the bottom of seams.

Frills emerged from tailoring seams and the cotton fabric beneath heavy canvas and new silhouettes and drape were created with pin tucks cut on the bias.

5. Simone Rocha

For London Fashion Week spring/summer 2024, Simone Rocha and footwear label Crocs teamed up to introduce a partnership.

Simone Rocha x Crocs explores the creative contradiction of femininity and utilitarianism in order to produce new designs that merge the recognised brand DNA of Crocs with the Simone Rocha aesthetic.

Three Crocs styles were redesigned, some of which feature socks decorated with Simone Rocha’s signature pearl, crystal and jet beading.
