6 K-pop idols embracing ‘blokecore’ fashion: from NewJeans’ colourful jerseys and Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie in Adidas, to (G)I-dle’s Y2K twist and Apink’s Hayoung adding Barbiecore

Is “blokecore” the hottest new fashion trend in K-pop? Based on recent celebrity sightings, one would certainly think so.

Bringing football into fashion, blokecore (with “bloke” being the British slang, of course), is the celebration of football jerseys and sporty tracksuit tops injected with a hint of femininity.

While this trend has already been fully embraced by icons like Bella Hadid and Rihanna, K-pop stars are getting on board with the hype too. What’s more, with the Women’s World Cup 2023 recently coming to a close last weekend, it seems like the perfect time to keep the momentum going with more football fanfare to come.

Here are six K-pop stars who are rocking the footie-loving “blokecore” style.

1. Blackpink’s Lisa

Lisa apparently likes to blend blokecore and Y2K fashion in her wardrobe. In one look, she dons a black Adidas crop jersey paired with a denim skirt. She completed her ensemble with black leg warmers and simple black Adidas trainers.

On another occasion, Lisa sported a bold red crop jersey, revealing a stylish black-and-white contrasting bra top. She paired it with low-waist denim trousers showing off her toned figure and added a white Celine bucket hat.

2. Blackpink’s Jennie

Jennie, who’s also known for her love of balletcore, combined elements of blokecore and preppy style also with the help of Adidas. She wore a white jersey with green borders and a simple pleated skirt. Long white socks and white trainers added a playful touch, while an Adidas handbag adorned with a cherry pattern completed her ensemble.

The ever-stylish K-pop group NewJeans channelled the spirit of “dopamine dressing” with vibrant jerseys, effortlessly pairing them with cargo pants and shorts for a dynamic and energising look.

Hayoung paid tribute to the sport with a light blue jersey, white cycling pants and sunglasses. In another look, she mergedblokecore with Barbiecore by rocking a pink jersey and a black leather pleated skirt.
