The prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards were announced earlier today at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. New York’s fashion elite as well as their European counteparts turned out en masse for possibly the summer’s best fashion party.
Guests such as Bella Hadid, Alek Wek and Lupita Nyong’o flaunted their pilate-toned, beach-ready bods in edgy outfits created by the likes of Demna Gvasalia and Virgil Abloh.
Rick Owens took home this year’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award while Franca Sozzani was honoured with this year’s Fashion Icon Award.
Raf Simons, who showed his first Calvin Klein collection in New York in February, won both the Womenswear Designer of the Year and Menswear Designer of the Year.Stuart Vevers of Coach was named Accessories Designer of the Year.
Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse won the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent.
