Stars come out to play for unveiling of Atelier Versace’s Haute Couture autumn/winter 2016 collection in Paris

Atelier Versace’ autumn/winter 2016 collection in Paris

A Versace show requires a cast of supermodels and front-row celebrities. When Donatella Versace presented her Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2016 collection at the beautiful Palais Brongniart, British supermodel Naomi Campbell, American actress Jennifer Garner and American actor Bradley Cooper were all in the front row.

English model, singer-songwriter and guitarist, Karen Elson opened proceedings in a sexy powder pink cashmere trench coat with a shawl made of silver green silk lining.

Elson was joined by supermodels Mariacarla Boscono, Sasha Pivovarova, Iselin Steiro, Irina Shayk, Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls and the emerging talents of Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill and Stella Maxwell.

Dresses were dramatic, the models were wrapped like irresistible sweets with ribbon-like construction on the front and a soft pallet of earth tones,  such as lavender or rose quartz with classic sexy red or vibrant black.

Atelier Versace’s haute couture moulage, draping, wrapping and folding techniques echo the sculptural shapes of the body and push the limits of craftsmanship. Quintessentially Versace, an amazing detail, the overcoats and cocktails dresses were worn off one shoulder to reveal a little skin without being too risqué.

Models carried ponytails, and chaotic chignons created by Guido Palau gave a messy but sexy touch. Bow-knot high heels and oversized silver hoops earrings combined with icy blue shadows and scarlet glittery lipsticks devised by make-up designer Pat McGrath conveyed an 1980s feeling.

After the show, Versace, in a beautiful black tuxedo with flared trousers, politely bowed to the crowd. Atelier Versace continues to set the standards for sexiness whether it’s at a cocktail party or a red-carpet event.
