Star Wars fans are rejoicing after the news broke last week that The Acolyte, a series that’s a part of the legendary sci-fi franchise, will be released this year.

Although the exact date has yet to be confirmed, reports state that the series will be released in June on Disney+. The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic era before the main Star Wars films, and will star Lee Jung-jae (remember him from Squid Game?), Joonas Suotamo, Jodie Turner-Smith and Amandla Stenberg.

Young talents may be taking the Star Wars baton but, predictably, most of the franchise’s wealth remains with the older and more established actors. Read on for are eight of the richest stars who have played a part in the franchise, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

His role as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo in the new Star Wars trilogy not only thrusted him into Hollywood fame, but also resulted in a cult following. According to Parade, he made at least US$9.5 million in total for his part in the Star Wars films. He has since starred in several high-profile movies including Blackkklansman, House of Gucci and White Noise.

The first Star Wars film, A New Hope, was released in 1977. Hamill played the iconic role of Luke Skywalker and reprised the character several times during the franchise. He has also had key roles in Scooby-Doo and The Sandman. He is also known for his stage productions and voice work too, such as in The Boy and the Heron.

The Scottish actor’s role as Obi-Wan Kenobi may be considered one of the most celebrated in the Star Wars franchise, but he almost never took the role. McGregor, 52, told Variety that he asked a lot of people for advice and was glad that he played the character, although the negative reviews were hard. He recently reprised the role in the Disney+ series of the same name.

4. Natalie Portman
