Born on October 11, 2006, in New York to Canadian supermodel Linda, Augustin was raised far from the media spotlight. His mother didn’t reveal the father’s identity to the public at the time of his birth.

It wasn’t until 2011, when Linda filed a petition seeking child support, that Pinault’s name was revealed to the world. According to People magazine, Hayek and Pinault got married in 2009, but they were dating in 2006 around the same time when Linda got pregnant. The Cut states that Linda and Pinault dated for roughly four months, starting in September 2005.

Hello! also reported that Pinault had “recognised” Augustin since 2007, saying that his son is “totally integrated within my family”.

In 2011, The Wall Street Journal reported that Evangelista was seeking US$46,000 a month in child support. Many were gobsmacked by this amount, but experts suggested that considering the childcare, schooling, clothing, drivers and extra-curriculars needed for a New York celebrity child, it was actually a reasonable figure. Pinault, meanwhile, has a current net worth of US$43 billion, per Bloomberg, and was also a billionaire at the time.

It’s unclear what amount they settled on in the end, but clearly it’s worked out as the family have been seen hanging out together since.
