It’s not just Kim Kardashian that gets to live like Hollywood royalty. From July 15 to 17, the headline-marking TCM Present: Hollywood Legends auction will be offering the chance to own 1,400 pieces of cinematic history. Up for grabs are items from Hollywood’s biggest icons, past and present.

These are the big ticket items going under the hammer, live from Beverly Hills and welcome to bidders the world over online from Julien’s Auctions.

Marilyn Monroe’s dress from There’s No Business Like Show Business

This skin-coloured crepe gown was worn by Marilyn Monroe during filming of the 1954 musical, There’s No Business Like Show Business. Adorned with bugle beads, diamantes and sequins, the dress is expected to fetch up to US$100,000 at auction.

 
This is not the first time Julien’s has auctioned items from Monroe’s wardrobe – the dress Kim Kardashian recently wore to the Met Gala was sold by the house for US$4.8 million back in 2016, making it the most expensive dress ever sold at auction.

According to The Guardian, the Jean Louis gown was so tight-fitting, Monroe had to be sewn into it ahead of her famous President John F. Kennedy birthday performance.

The famous little black dress worn by Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) was the work of Hubert de Givenchy, but it wasn’t the only piece the acclaimed designer created for the film. Hepburn wore a two-piece ensemble in scenes with George Peppard including the pair’s timeless visit to Tiffany & Co.

Hepburn was clearly a fan of the ensemble, as she was reportedly seen wearing it in Rome after filming wrapped. The outfit has an estimated value of between US$40,000 and US$60,000.

Elizabeth Taylor was known for her extravagant jewellery collection, and even has a diamond named after her. The 33.19-carat Elizabeth Taylor Diamond – formerly known as the Harry Winston Krupp Diamond – was sold by the late actress’ estate for US$8.8 million in 2011.

At Julien’s upcoming auction, a selection of pieces from Taylor’s costume jewellery will go under the hammer. Items include a Valentino cross pendant, Chanel clip earrings and a 1945 costume brooch gifted from her mother with a personal handwritten note. Jewellery within the collection is priced between US$600 and US$2,000.

The largest item on the lot list, this original motor yacht featured prominently in the 1957 hit music Pal Joey, starring Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak. The yacht belonged to oil mogul JP Getty before it was requisitioned by the Navy, where it served as a submarine chaser based out of San Francisco. Featuring the original diesel engines, the yacht carries the auction’s heftiest price tag and is expected to fetch up to US$2 million.

One of six original helmets from debut Star Wars outing A New Hope (1977), this stormtrooper helmet’s provenance can be traced back to a crew member who was gifted the prop.

It later came into the hands of renowned restoration expert Gino Sabatino, who returned the piece to its original aesthetic and restored its former glory. It is expected to fetch up to US$300,000.
