Lee, who was the founding president of Google China, has a form of lymphatic cancer.
He had been receiving treatment in his hometown of Taipei, but has now returned to work in Beijing, a spokesman for his company said.
Lee was known for his outspoken views and has had 51 million followers on his social media account.
He is known for encouraging young people in the mainland and Taiwan to make the most of their educational background and called on their parents to give them the greater freedom.
Wang Zhaohui, a spokesman for Lee's company, Innovation Works, told the that Lee had been allowed to return to work for limited hours after his two most recent medical checks showed some improvement in his cancer.
Lee addressed his staff and invited dozens of entrepreneurs and media friends to his home for a party after his return to work, reported.
