What our Graduate Trainees have to say about the programme

Graduate Trainee, joined 2020:

“The SCMP Graduate Trainee programme allowed me to experience journalism in a bustling newsroom environment, which is very valuable for my career. The rotations to the different news desks also allowed me to better understand the type of journalism that I wanted to pursue. I would highly recommend this one-year experience to journalism graduates, as this would help them get a good start in the industry.”

Graduate Trainee, joined 2020:

“It has always been a dream to work at a historic newspaper. The Graduate Trainee programme was perfect for that, as I could begin my journalism career at the Post. As trainees, we rotated through various desks, allowing us to understand the intricacies of each beat. It also gave us much-needed exposure to essential topics. We were able to interview people from all walks of life. The Post was welcoming and I had colleagues who were helpful and patient in guiding me every step of the way.”
